Kanye West with the late G.O.O.D Friday release but nonetheless its here with another all star cast. "Take One For The Team" features Pusha T, Cyhi Da Prynce, and Keri Hilson. Good production, good lyrics and good song overall.
@RickyRozay just tweeted "I'm Not A Star" video is out so I had to post this ASAP. This has to my favorite record on "Teflon Don" and I knew from the first time I heard the album the visual would be released for this. The track goes hard and definitely gets you hype to take a journey with the Teflon Don. The video is simple, to the point, but visually fly. The next video on deck is "MC Hammer" as he already released this and "Aston Martin Music".
Ricky Rozay finally drops the video for "Aston Martin Music" after talking about via Twitter for months. Then again we all know Ross does a million other things at once so you know "I'm Not a Star" and "MC Hammer" videos will b coming quickly right behind this one. Not going to talk to much about it just know it's a great track, great artists, great visual.
Reek Da Villian is an up and coming rapper under Flipmode squad who is starting to see some mainstream attention. If you remember Busta Rhymes "Dont Touch Me Now Remix" he had a verse that he did his thing on. Since then he released a single called "Mechanics" featuring Busta Rhymes produced by Swizz Beatz with the ill sample which was used by Rza on Method Man's "Bring The Pain". He even was featured on BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher last night so he definitely making a mark in the game. The "Mechanics Remix" is a allstar lineup casted by Busta Rhymes and has some pretty tough verses from likes of Cam, Vado, and Method Man. Only thing is I think they could of left out Nelly (no disrespect) but he was kind of out of place. Anyway, check it and let us know what you think.
So another super group/crew has been formed this year called "All City Chess Club". The crew is comprised of Lupe Fiasco, Charles Hamilton, B.O.B, J. Cole, Wale, Asher Roth, Blu, Diggy Simmons, The Cool Kids, and Pharrell on the 1 and 2's. The group was supposedly formed out of Lupe's observation of how all these artist have a musical chemistry together. So the first track from this union is the "I'm Beamin' Remix" which is nice lyrical exercise for these rappers. Wale and J. Cole are not on this track but should b featured on other records in the future.
Kanye x Pusha T x Big Sean x Cyph Da Prynce x Common
First off, the previous BET cypher post were the B-side version of the Cypher that is only available on BET.com and never aired. The G.O.O.D Music Cypher was definitely the highlight of the Cypher. I'm going to be brief and say Kanye had the hottest line of the year in the Cypher, Big Sean killed his verse, and Pusha T, Cyph da Prynce & Common verses were crazy as well. The other cyphers include Wiz Khalifa, Yelawolf, Rev Run and kids, Ice Cube and kids, Tyga and more. Check all the cyphers out and let us know who you think where the best lyricist.
Wiz Kahlifa x Bones x Yelawolf x Raekwon
Tyga x Kuniva x Diamond x Royce Da 5'9
Ice Cube (w/ OMG x Doughboy)X Rev Run (w/ Diggy x JoJo)
Curren$y puts out the visual for "Audio Dope 2" off of his album "Pilot Talk". Directed by Creative Control the video is a dope concept matching the concept of the actual song. Even though "Pilot Talk" was just released in July, Curren$y plans on releasing "Pilot Talk 2" in November. This dude is working hard the help of Dame Dash and Ski Beatz.
Young Money Artist/Bronx Native Cory Gunz raps over Cam & Vado's "We All Up In Here"beat. It's more of a song then a freestyle as he has his own little chorus on the track. Check it out let us know if its hot or not.
Wiz Khalifa releases a visual for his latest single "Black and Yellow" off his debut album on Rostrum/Atlantic. The single is defintley been buzzing on the net for a month or so now. The video is typical Wiz holding down his hometown Pittsburgh, PA as usual. Watch the video and don't sleep on Wiz. He is making major moves in the hip hop game.
It's the GOOD Friday release and yes I know I'm a day or so late but here it is. Remember the super group formed by Pharrell, Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye West? They had a single called "Us Placers" that had the internet and the hip hop world going nuts. Well if you thought the group was disbanded C.R.S (Child Rebel Solider) drops on GOOD Friday with a new single titled "Dont Stop!". At first I was thrown off by the beat but after a few listens it is certified. Check it out if you haven't already and leave a comment.
Jordan Brand this year has started a interesting and limited collection called "Bin 23". The Bin 23 Collection is "where experimental and imagined Air Jordan designs, now aged to perfection, finally spring to life". The latest shoe from the Bin 23 Collection is the Air Jordan VII Retro Premio. This sneaker got the funky african tribal patterns giving it that 90's basketball sneaker look. Jordan Brand doesnt have a specific release date but should b releasing pretty soon so look out for these.
Seems like Lloyd Banks is following the trend of doing all-star collaborations with his new single off his upcoming album HFM2 (Hunger For More Pt.2). "Start It Up" features Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Fabolous, and vocals by Ryan Leslie. This record is crazy and I have to say Kanye verse was the winner in this one. All this healthy camaraderie is definitely a beneficial for Hip Hop.
I dont know why they didnt wait til they aired the show but BET releases video of Part 1 and Part 2 of the BET cypher. Cypher part 1 features Vado x Raychester x Farnsworth Bentley and Cypher part 2 features Laws x Reema Major, x Nick Javas. The line up is kinda different from previous years but Vado, Bentley, Laws and 15 yrd old Reema Major make it entertaining. The Cypher part 3 features G.O.O.D music artists Pusha T, Kanye, Common, and Big Sean and that has not made its way on the net. I'm looking forward to watching that Cypher when the BET Hip Hop Awards airs October 12th.
Kanye makes a performance appearance on SNL even after the fact of his controversial lyrics dissing SNL on the track "Power". He ironically performs power with a new second verse and he also does "Runaway" featuring Pusha T. The highlight his the stage setting and ballerina's creating art in motion.
Seems like we are going back to the days of massive collaborations and real remix records. Its not even a question that this stems from Kanye West but I'm not complaining. So the biggest woman bashing record has some of the illest MC's lending their verses to vent on the track. I am not going to talk to much about this all I have to say is Kanye had the best verse and I'm glad to see Andre 3 K back in the mix.
Diddy and Rick Ross come together to form the group The Buggatti Boyz and this is the first song from this union. "Another One" sound like a typical Ross track with a verse from Diddy which sound like it was written by Rozay himself. I have mixed feelings about this record but leave a comment let us know what you feel about it.
Eminem releases the visual for his third single off of "The Recovery" album titled "No Love". This song features Lil Wayne and production by Just Blaze. It has to my favorite song on the album because of the production (Jus using that Haddaway sample) and Eminem went lyrically insane on this record. Lil Wayne is also in the video due to the fact he went on a video shoot binge before he was incarcerated. The video concept is dope so check it out and leave a comment.
Justin Timberlake visits the Jimmy Fallon Show to promote for his newly released movie "The Social Network". It started as a comedic interview then turned into a mega-hip hop medley. I was surprised to see how knowledgeable Jimmy Fallon was of hip hop as they go from old school to new school hits. Watch the video its definitely worth the time and the action starts around the 11:47 mark.
I have been slacking on the Quick Mixes but we are back with three new Quick Mixes. Quick Mix #11 is a tribute to the era when "gettin lite" was the craze. The Get Lite Mix takes you back to famous songs like "chicken noodle soup" & "5000", a original track produced by Eazy, and some new tracks that you could definitely get lite too. Quick Mix #12 pays homage to the 90's best dance/pop/electro/techno/house hits. If you loved C&C music factory, Haddaway, or La Bouche you will love this mix. The last mix Quick Mix #13 was done earlier in the year but decide to release it in the Quick Mix series. This mix also pays homage to the 90's but to the golden era of Hip Hop. I just advise you to take time to download and listen these mixes. Look out for the 2010 Dancehall Mix CD coming real real real soon.
Well, its Good Friday and we have another big collaborative release from Mr. West. "So Appalled" was something actually circulating around the net earlier this year which was rumored to appear on Diddy's "Last Train To Paris". Now that we have the song mastered and a all-star cast laying down verses for the track, its officially a PROBLEM. Not to mention Kanye giving shine to his newly signed artist Cyhi Da Prince who he once gave a simple co-sign is now a G.O.O.D Music artist. Please have a good friday and listen to the new GOOD Friday release.
I stumbled on this article on a blog I follow and had to go to the source to get more back story. Designer/Artist/Director Vashtie Kola (who I knew nothing about til now) becomes the first female to collaborate in a design of a Jordan sneaker. Now not hating but Air Jordan 2's is my least favorite out of the Jordan Collection but her touch to the sneaker is nice. I think this is a great achievement due to the fact Jordan Brand rarely has collaborators and her able to break those boundaries is amazing. The sneaker is supposedly dropping October 2nd. Check out the pictures of the sneaker and catch up with Vashtie here or on twitter @Vashtie.
Lil Wayne is about 40+ days away from being released from prison and 5 days til his bday. It seems that "I'm Not A Human Being" will no longer be a EP but now a LP and released digitally on September 27th (his birthday). "Gonorrhea", as outlandish as it sounds, this is track 1 off "I'm Not A Human Being" and features Drake. Check out the track and watch the full video of "I'm Not A Human Being".
I'm a few days late but here is the latest of the GOOD Friday series titled "Lord, Lord, Lord". Another big collaboration record with verses from Raekwon, Mos Def and Swizzy with Charlie Wilson on the hook. For the hip hop heads who recognize this beat, it seems this beat was used before or possibly resampled. Nas has a track on QB's Finest track titled "Find Your Wealth" with the similar beat. Nonetheless, It's a decent record and Ye' goes off lyrically once again.
Today, the net was going crazy about a video of Jim Jones and Cam'ron in the studio playing a new freestyle. The freestyle was on Kanye's "Runaway" beat and Cam'ron decides to get disrespect toward his former label mate. The funny thing is a few months back Cam'ron was on Ustream supporting Kanye and talking about reaching out for production for future projects. I guess Jimmy and Cam still hold a grudge to Ye' and Hov on the behalf of their long time friend Dame Dash. Well below you can check out the video clip and download the freestyle. I really think Cam and Jimmy should focus on DIPSET and not diss records.
This is a performance video of Big Sean's "5 On It" featuring Chip The Ripper, which was performed at Michigan State University. The original track that is on Big Sean's "Finally Famous Vol.3" mixtape also features Curren$y Spitta but he was not in the video. This track is definitely one of my favorite records off the mixtape.
Last week Thursday "Home and Home Concert" took place at Comerica Park in Detroit but last night was the highly anticipated concert date as Jay-z & Eminem took the show to Yankees Stadium. Eminem and Jay-z both brought out a high profile cast of artists such as 50 cent, Dr Dre, Drake, Kanye, Nicki Minaj and many more. The concert was said to be incredible from many fans and other artists who attended. Check out the few videos from the concert and set list of the show.

Kanye West is shutting down the music game for the last half of the year. He performed/closed out MTV VMA's last night and the song he performed was not one of his crazy G.O.O.D Friday releases but something brand new. The performance was definitely incredible but another highlight was Pusha T comes in on the third verse of the performance. "Runaway" is supposedly to be on Ye' upcoming album but most importantly Pusha T solidifying his alliance with G.O.O.D Music. Check out the track and look at the video below of Pusha T confirming signing with G.O.O.D Music.
Another Good Friday release by Kanye and ironically the title of this release is "Good Friday". This is another star-studded collaboration with Common, Big Sean,Pusha T laying verses and Cudi on the hook with Charlie Wilson handling additional vocals. I just advise you to go download this asap.
Wiz Khalifa drops another visual directed by Bill Paldino for his verse over the Geto Boys "Damn It Feels Good To Be a Gangsta". Classic song/beat especially if you seen the movie "Office Space". The video is typical Wiz & Taylor Gang activities with a lot of smoke in the air.
Gucci X Swizz Beatz come together to make a record titled "Gucci Time". As many people love Gucci, they are people who dont really like him. No matter what Gucci is grinding and solidifying his spot in the rap game. This is decent track as Swizz will always deliver with the production. Check out the video and let us know what you think.
Kanye's newest G.O.O.D Friday release is more subtle then the last two which had monster collaborations. "Devil In A New Dress" has a nice soulful sample but still has the super lyrical Kanye lacing the track. All I have to say is Kanye is giving us fans greater anticipation for his album "Dark Twisted Fantasy".
Araab Muzik dipset's own in house producer straight out of Providence, Rhode Island puts on a show for Busta Rhymes, Jerry Wonder and company. If you havent watched this dude go crazy on a MPC via Worldstar before I suggest you just watch this video. He is a certified problem and making big moves in the game. Just watch this video and see for yourself.
Ed Lover has been winning with this C'Mon Son series. He has people regular or famous saying C'Mon Son with a bum billboard sign, T-shirts, and his own intro theme song. I had to post this one specifically because Funeral Fab makes a guest appearance and definitely puts #brianpumperjewels to rest. This is definitely hilarious go check it out.
Even though the classic colorways have been continuously retro'ed in the past few years heavy, I had to post this because these are a personal favorite. I remember copping my first pair of Air Max 95's and this was the colorway. They are currently out now at select retailers at the price of $145.
Cee-Lo Green is making a resurgence into the mainstream not only with his features ("Tears of Joy" with Rick Ross) but also with this new single "F*ck You". I always thought Cee-Lo had a unique voice back when Goodie Mob was heavy on the scene. This is the first single off his upcoming album "Lady Killer". The song was said to have been written by Bruno Mars (singer on "Nothin on You"). Check out the video and let us know what you think.
Not gonna say too much but Fab paid a visit to Funk Flex on Hot 97 earlier in the night. Flex played two instrumentals and Fab dropped some serious bars which is something he hasn't done in a minute. I advise you to watch this video because its straight #HEAT.
Lil Wayne, who said to have 64 more days left to go in prison, is planning on releasing a EP on his birthday September 27th. The title of the EP and title of the song/promo video is called "I'm Not A Human Being". It looks like Lil Wayne made sure not only did you miss him when he was gone but kept himself relevant in the game. It is also said that Weezy will be releasing "The Carter IV" the day he is released from prison.
A 2 For 1 with a new Ricky Rozay freestyle video "Hard In The Paint" directed by Spiff Tv and new music by Triple C's called "Walk on Water". "Walk on Water" is produced by Lex Luger who coincidentally produced the "Hard In The Paint" beat Ross made the freestyle for. The new Triple C's record goes hard and is supposedly the first single off the sophomore album titled "Color Cut Clarity". The download link is right below.
A much needed documentary on BET aired last night called "My Mics Sounds Nice: Truth About Women In Hip Hop". It showcased some of the most prominent Female MC's in the game from past to present. I am not going to go in-depth but If you missed it please watch all three videos.
Despite all the issues on the release, Big Sean alongside XXL magazine finally drops the third installment of the Finally Famous mixtape series hosted by Don Cannon. If you never heard of Big Sean, I advise you take some time out to download and listen to this mixtape.
Lauryn Hill is showing the world that she is really ready to make her return. As some feel she went off the deep end and abandon her fans/music/career, I feel Lauryn just took a step back. Lauryn Hill is capable of making a epic return and I feel she will come back to the game real strong. I personally would like her to be locked inside a studio for like 3 months straight but we all have dreams right? Check out her energy performing at the "Rock The Bells Concert" and the love shown by some of today's superstars.
Jadakiss finally releases the visual for "Top 5 Dead or Alive" featuring Styles P. I remember watching the behind the scenes video shoot a month ago like I can't wait for this video to drop. "Top 5 Dead or Alive" is straight off that "Champ is Here Pt.3" mixtape and the track is produced by AraabMuzik. Check the video out and if you havent already go get that "Champ is Here Pt. 3".
Kanye West is bringing us "G.O.O.D Friday" every single friday with exclusive releases. Last friday was that crazy "Power" Remix now this Friday we have "Monster". A star-studded collaboration with Jay-z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and indie rock band Bon Iver. This record is supposedly one of the tracks on the 5 song album Kanye West and Jay-z are making called "Watch The Throne". I'm not going into detail but this is a MONSTER record so go listen RIGHT NOW.
Fabolous releases a video for his new single produced by Lex Luger titled "Lights Out". This single will be on "TINC 2 (There Is No Competition 2): The Grieving Music EP" slated to release on September 6th. Def Jam and Fab decided to release a EP version due to the success of the actual TINC 2 mixtape earlier in the year. Check out the visual and pick up that TINC2 EP September 6th.
Mr 5 Mic's, Trill OG, UGK representer Bun B releases a visual for his record "Trillionaire" off his new album "Trill OG". Its funny how he releases this video and its one of my favorite tracks on the album. T-pain even did his thing on the hook which people thought he was dead and gone in the game by now. Check out the video and definitely check out the album "Trill OG".
Kanye is really trying to turn it up for the last half of the year and beyond. This "Power" remix is proving that not only is he going hard lyrically, going hard on the production but he is bringing back the old style of really REMIXING a record. The collaboration efforts and the powerful lyrics are showing how much Kanye is really coming back to put a choke-hold on the rap game. By the way, Swizz Beatz definitely spazzed by sampling Snaps "I got the power" for the beat change up. I am in anticipation for what Yeezy has up his sleeve for his upcoming album "Dark Twisted Fantasy".
Well I definitely thought Drake was releasing the "Fancy" video before this one but this works. "Miss Me" which features Lil Wayne is one of the many videos Weezy made sure he did before his 8 month bid in Rikers. You can definitely see similarities in the style of this video and the "Over" video due to the fact they both were directed by Anthony Mandler. One part I thought was pretty dope was when they dropped in the Young Money cameo out of nowhere. Check out the video and leave a comment.
So I was browsing the web and I came across probably one of the funniest videos I seen in a minute. This dude is hilarious hands down. He definitely does something we all do by acting a fool when we think no one is watching then has the GAS FACE when he realizes he got caught. Please watch the whole video it is worth it.
Below is a new video just put up today. Seems like he got a little bit of notarity and decide to do another viral video. This one is hilarious also so check it out.
Trey Songz released the video for his single "Bottoms Up" featuring Nicki Minaj. The video is kinda interesting and fits those deranged multi-personality actions of Nicki Minaj. This single will be featured on Trey Songz "Passion Pain and Pleasure" album dropping September 14th.
J.Cole is dropping heat after heat in preparation of his debut album. "Blow Up" is not only another lyrical exercise but potentially a great song. The track is produced by J.Cole himself which shows how much of a problem J.Cole is. If you are sleeping on J.Cole its about time you wake up.
You can call them underground or backpack rappers but the Cool Kids are nice. Mikey Rocks and Chuck English releases a visual for "Gold Links" off their "Gone Fishing" mixtape. They been dropping mixtapes consistently but I know the fans can't wait for the debut album titled "When Fish Ride Bicycles" to drop. This video was directed by Michael Sterling Eaton.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeshhh!!! I definitely didn't see this collaboration coming at all. However, there are continuing the "All Black Everything" theme for this exclusively for Jay-Z and the winner of the e-bay bidding war that is going to occur. The 5 designs, inspired by the World Basketball Festival, are going to be auctioned and the proceeds with go to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. For those with plenty money the auction that begins on August 12th at http://www.ebay.com/jayznikewbf.
Kanye West is currently at Hot 97 where he just debuted new music featuring Beyonce & Charlie Wilson titled "See Me Now". The all star features also has a all star production lineup with NO I.D & Lex Luger co-producing. The song is amazing so go listen right now.
First off, Ryan Leslie is turning his behind the scene studio footage videos into short films. This dude is super talented and just like the many other in studio videos he has this one is just as incredible. The video features him working on a track for Roc Nation artist Bridget Kelly which seems like another smash single.
MTV series of "When I was 17" featured Bronx native super producer Swizz Beatz. He goes in about his escapades at 17 which are pretty interesting. The illest thing was he had a Nissan 300z at 17 which he still owns til this day.
I came across this and thought it was dope. A boeing 727 airplane converted into a tree house style hotel that over looks the beach in Costa Verde, Costa Rica. This definitely makes me want to go vacation in Costa Rica pronto.
Erkyah Badu creates a short film sequel with her new video "Window Seat (Remix)/ Turn Me Away (Get MuNNY)". She incorporated Rick Ross's hot freestyle verse on "Window Seat" and the continuation of the original "Window Seat" video. She directed the video with the visual provided by Creative Control. The video has a cliff-hanger style ending hinting to another continuation. I think I watched this 10 times already so go check it out ASAP.
Say what you want but Wiz Khalifa is holding down the 412 (Pittsburgh, PA) single-handedly. The track "Never Been" is the latest visual released from his mixtape "Kush and Orange Juice". The video was directed by Bill Paladino.
Kanye finally releases what he calls the portrait of "Power". This visual was directed by artist/director Marco Brambilla. Even though it is a short video, the visual is indeed powerful. Check this out immediately if you haven't seen it already and leave a comment.
I know I'm a few days late but Wale releases his highly anticipated "More About Nothing" mixtape mixed by DJ Omega. @Wale had the internet going nuts on August 3rd when he finally released his follow up to his breakthrough "Mixtape About Nothing". The buzz is worthy because he does it again with another great mixtape. So make sure you download it asap.
A friend of mine said "If the Blackberry Bold and Blackberry Storm had a baby it would be the Blackberry Torch". The Blackberry Torch combines the multi-touch capabilities of a touch screen phone with a slide-out qwerty row keypad. It will be the first blackberry to feature the Blackberry 6 operating system and will be exclusively available for AT&T on August 12th.
Cam and Vado took their talents down to South Beach and shot the "Speaking in Tungs" video. This is one of the biggest summer records especially coming out of New York City. This is the first single off the U.N. album titled "Gunz N' Butta" dropping August 31st. Check out the video and leave a comment.
So for the 10th Quick Mix out of the series, I decided to mix a follow up to the first Best of Nicki Minaj Mix. The reception from the first one was so crazy I had to give the Nicki fans and Barbies a Part 2. Check it out the mix and look out for Quick Mix series 11 and 12 coming real soon.
This interview was bound to happen especially since both are Canadian natives. Nardwuar carries on the tradition of his eccentric, awkward, but fascinating style of interviewing with Drake and his producer/engineer 40. Drake even comments mid interview that it was was the best interview in his entire life. Check out the interview and leave a comment.
I been waiting for the full version since I heard the snippet on Bun B's "No Mixtape". "Put it Down" will be on Bun B's upcoming album "Trill OG" dropping August 3rd. It's probably the best track I heard so far on the album so check it out and let us know what you think.
Fabolous releases "Tonight x Love Come Down" video for his funeral arrangement viral series for TINC2. Directed by Aristole, the video is a two for one with "Tonight" first then goes into "Love Come Down". This probably will be the final installment to the series but look out for the "TINC2: Grieving Music" EP coming in September which will feature both these songs.
If you tuned into Hot 97 on Saturday night, then you heard Funkmaster Flex blast off another summer anthem from Cam'ron & Vado. "We All Up in Here", which was produced by Araabmuzik, is a crazy record to follow up their other smash song "Speaking in Tongues". This track will be on Cam'ron and Vado's retail mixtape "Gunz and Butta" coming soon.
Lauryn Hill hasnt dropped new music in years. No one has a clue if "Repercussions" is unreleased old material or a new record but its something the people been waiting for nonetheless. Hopefully, we can see more music from Lauryn as she finally came out her shell to do major performances recently.
I'm kinda late with this one because I seen when @LupeFiasco tweeted the lyrics of the refixed chorus then released it shortly after last Friday. The original "BMF" record is arguably the best club track of the summer. It has been so infectious but not too many MC's touched this instrumental. Lupe Fiasco takes this beat and puts a revolutionary twist to it. He goes in for about 5 minutes as lyrical revolutionary. Lupe fans are still waiting for the release of the #WEARELAZERS project but no word on the release due to politics with his label Atlantic Records. If haven't heard the freestyle then listen here.
Wow... I definitely didn't see this collaboration coming this soon. I am a big fan of fighting games and this is going to be epic. Capcom made a great comeback with Super Street Fighter 4 especially after the not so great Street Fighter 4 video game. There are actual gameplay videos on youtube. Make sure you check them out.
Nicki Minaj releases a video for her second single "Your Love" off her upcoming album. I like this single way better then the first one but her videos have been consistently good. Nicki definitely ran with the line "when i was a geisha he was a samurai" and made that her video concept. Famous actor and martial artist Michael Jai White co-stars alongside Nicki Minaj in the video as well. Check it out and let us know what you think.
